Work

I don't know which is worse, shoveling dirt for 8 hours a day, or coming home to my dad's -smug- comments: "Oh, are you tired?" "Welcome to my world". I'm about to strangle him the next time he comes into my room with that thinly veiled sense of victory.

Work, yes...how's about work? Well here's what I've done all this week. Monday I shoveled dirt...lots and lots of dirt, then I put some sand in with the dirt and mixed it all up. Then I shoveled it around some more (cause you have to get a real good mix in there, I'm doing landscaping), then when that was all done, I add a bag of peet moss or however the hell you spell it and restart the whole goddamn process. Usually I have to toss 3 or 4 bags in there and churn it up real good. I only have one other guy to help me too, so it usually takes an entire day to get one planter done. There are four. ~_~ And I had to build one of the planters by setting 80 lb. bricks into place, and nearly ripped my back to shreds by the end of that, because they have to be stacked 3 layers high in an oval about 8 feet wide by 15 feet long.

I'm exhausted every day by the time I get back, this fucking sucks, I suppose it'll get better once I see my first paycheck, but I won't even see that until next week sometime. That and black belt testing is coming fast and I know I'm not ready yet, I'm just thankful it's a relatively small testing group, which means it'll get done earlier.

Bah, I need to get going now, or I'll be late...

um....

at least it's a job? I wish I had something better to say. The only thing I can think of it that at least you can talk right now. everything I say has to be really quiet and mumbled or writtten down. I hope things get better. Miss you and your dripping venemous rage. ^_~

Heh.

How many years removed from shoveling dirt is your father in his career? Yeah, work makes you tired, but if you find a career you enjoy and go with it, it won't be painful and exhausting most of the time.

Re: Heh.

Technically I think if my father shoveled anything it would be sewage...he's been in the clinical sanitation racket for as long as I can recall.
